COME PICNIC SHOPPING WITH ME IN PARIS
Fancy a nice Picnic in Paris ?
If you’ve been in Paris for more than few days and are tired of hotels or restaurants food, it is time to try a typical Parisian picnic in one the beautiful parks or quais of Paris ! I mean, I love having a nice hotel stay when I travel for a short amount of time, but when I have to stay more than few days, I almost always go for an Airbnb. Mostly, I just love having the choice to eat in or out and if you care about what you eat even when traveling, cooking your own food is also always a better option.
Last weekend in Paris was sunny and hot, so I decided to go grocery shopping for our picnic the same night. Follow me around the “rue de Sevres” to some of my favorite local shops and get your typical parisian picnic !
We were on a 4 days weekend and most of Parisians were out of the city. Which meant parks were certainly empty and what a better time to do a pinic then. If there is a place I like the most in Paris when it comes to buy food it’s the “rue de Sevres” street, full of nice local shops.
Now I am a BIG fan of cheese, Ham and Wine. I mean, am clearly not French for nothing. I guess living in such a rich food culture helps. But no matter if you are keen to try French food or willing to stick to your own national food, you will find anything you need in ‘la grande épicerie de Paris” in the bon marché on the same street.
Shopping in “Rue de Sevres” is actually really handy since all the shops I go to are on the same street and only few meters apart. So I took the metro, stopped at “DUROC metro station” and started walking toward the first boutique.
Head to ►QUATRE HOMMES – ARTISAN CHEESE DAIRY
Before I start, I LOVE CHEESE ! I mean, I could just live out of Cheese. So cheese is a big deal for me, even though I tried to cut milk from my diet. Yeah that’s pretty much my guilty pleasure!
The Quatre Hommes have a huge selection of cheese. The staff is great and will help you find stuff you like. What I liked the most is the richness of the offer. On one side you have bottles of wine and prosseco to choose from, nice and delicious dry sausages & patés, delicious Jam choices (Ideal accompaniments for cheese) and even fresh eggs. Pretty much everything you would want to have with your cheese.
Plus* Do not worry if you don’t want to bring your cheese with you during you stroll in the beautiful streets of Paris, they can keep your groceries with them, so you can pick it up later and head to your picnic spot afterward.
Head to ► FRANCESCO – ITALIAN TRATTORIA
I had all the cheese I needed… except Mozzarella ! Yes I know what you are going to say, and that’s ok. I also occasionally love a good caterer ! Passing by the boutique, you can’t help but enter the nice and appetizing decor boutique with baskets full of Italian Lemons on the front. There, you will find a hard time choosing among the huge quantity of Italian food in front of you. I picked up some 4 cheeses Pizza pieces, Capreze salad with tomato and mozzarella, Aubergine croquettes and some olive tapenade. Here again the staff was great and you could definitely feel the Italian vibes in it.
Head to ►SAVEUR DE SEVRES
Now, as much I would love to have a picnic with bread, cheese and wine, I though it would be appropriate … or reasonable to pick up some fruits and vegetables (even though I consider the cheese Jam as fruits and the olives on my pizza as vegetables).
Head to ►SECCO BAKERY
Are you not mesmerized by the amazing colors on this pictures.
What would be cheese without bread ? Actually, what would be food without bread ! I stopped at this amazing bakery and picked up some baguettes and apricot tarts and pistachio macaroons. (head over to my instagram to have a look).
It’s now time to enjoy all this delicious food and what’s best than a view on the Eiffel tower while enjoying a nice diner with friends and family.
Head to ► THE CHAMPS DE MARS
Luckily for you, the champs de mars park is open during spring and summer season. It’s one of the most beautiful park of Paris because of the amazing view it has on the Eiffel Tower. You will never see her this closed ! And when light starts to go down and the sky darken around 9 to 10 pm, you will have the chance to admire the beautiful Eiffel Tower sparkling every 5 minute of each hour. Don’t miss it !
