MY TOP APPS TO EDIT MY INSTAGRAM PICTURES
Here is 4 apps I recommend using when trying to build a nice Instagram Feed.
We all know how much social media is important when having a blog. And if you want to be able to communicate with your audience on different platforms, Instagram is a must have. A picture translates 10 times better than text. So I am aware that not everyone will follow my blog or my Twitter but would however like and follow my Instagram feed. Then again, if you only use your Instagram for your personnal liking or to share with friends and family, there is no need to do use the following apps.
These apps are ones of the best, if not the best tools to build a great Instagram feed. Depending on what you are trying to share on your account (Wild Backpacking, Adventurous Traveller, luxurious and fancy Female travelling) etc. you have to make sure your content fits your brand and targets your niche.
Afterlight is one of my favorite app, and if you wander what I use it for, the name says it all. It has pretty much the same features as Instagram or any other editing app (filters, contrast, saturation bla bla bla …) but the most interesting one is the highlights possibilities.
Create easily light leaks and textures to your picture. See below on this picture of a Roman Forum I took last year in Roma, where I added a warm reddish light hollow starting from the top of the picture.
UNUM is a great app to organize your feed. It allows you to visualize your current feed with other pictures your are planning on adding. See if it matches your theme and previous pictures, save and post. Here is my future planning feed ! As you can see, am trying to use a very constant color theme and alternate between object and places.
VSCO is another great alternative to UNUM. It allows you to organize your feed in the app before posting in Instagram and to use the filters and other brightness, saturation and warmth options. You can also copy/paste the filters and changes you made to one of your pictures to a new one, so it matchs your theme effortlessly. Some prefer one to another but I definitly use UNUM more than I use VSCO. I find UNUM is much more simple to use and has almost the exact same features. Also even though the app is free, you will have to get your purse out of your pocket to get the best features of VSCO since most of the best filters are around 1 to 4€/$ each.
One more additional app you should be using
If you are a big fan of selfies or portrait pics, Facetune is another great app you should be using. Portrait pictures is actually a great way to vary your Instagram feed from landscapes or food pictures. There is something about seeing a face and a body that attracts more people to your Instagram account than a landscape picture would do. Obviously, Bikini pics always work better, but no matter if you want to show your face or if your prefer back shot, this app is going to be your best friend. Whiten your teeth or background, slim your face down, add countouring, remove imperfection, enlarge your hips, slim your waist down etc. etc. etc.
